WHAT WE DO

Our team has been designing, manufacturing, and commissioning Energy Storage Systems for the past 8 years. We partner with ELM Fieldsight who manufactures the MG Series’ systems. These systems are pre-engineered, pre-assembled Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and are fully integrated through ELM Fieldsight’s control. The MG Series grid-connected systems support multiple ongrid functions including Peak Shaving, Demand response, Backup, and Resiliency.

Our experience working with a wide variety of Energy Storage Systems applications allows us to help EPCs and developers successfully integrate batteries into renewable projects. We pride ourselves in working with all our clients from system design and size optimization through to the final steps of system commissioning and training.

FOUNDER’S VISION

During the past decade, we at Current Energy Storage have seen first-hand, the significant growth and price deflation of the solar industry. This growth has put us on the tipping point of true energy independence. However, in order to reach energy independence, we will need to aggressively incorporate energy storage systems into the on and off grid infrastructure. Unfortunately, traditional energy storage systems are complex and involved install. We offer energy storage systems that can be installed and commissioned in a fraction of the time it takes to install a traditional system. The end result is a commercial grade, web monitored, energy storage system which has the same sophistication as large utility technologies.

Michael Seavey

President & Founder

I have been in the solar and energy storage business for over 15 years. I have an engineering degree from Texas A&M (Gig ‘em!) and an MBA from the University of Texas. Upon graduation I began a 22 year career in industrial and process automation with Festo Corporation. At Festo I became the District Manager and my career focused on machine robotics and automation for factory equipment.

In 2007 I began a new career with Gexpro where I was the Branch Manager for one of their large construction branches. During this time I viewed solar as the next big opportunity for electrical distribution. Due to my background and interest in renewable energy, Gexpro offered me the position of National Solar Manager where I had the opportunity to develop Gexpro’s national solar program. A few years after launching Gexpro’s solar program I then launched Gexpro’s storage program which became known as Gexpro Power IQ.

As life puts us onto new paths and journeys, I decided to start my own company in 2017 focusing on commercial Energy Storage which was in its infancy at that time. As an early adopter in the commercial energy sector my goal was to produce factory built and tested energy storage systems. My many years spent on perfecting my own knowledge regarding energy storage and also watching this technology grow makes me optimistic about the future in how we produce and use energy globally.

When I am not designing or supporting energy storage projects, I can be found training for the yearly Galveston Half Iron Man triathlon, being a proud father of 3 successful women and spending time road and mountain biking with my wonderful wife of 37 years.

I was born in Mexico to American parents and grew up in Guadalajara until we moved to San Antonio, TX. After finishing schooling there, I attended Texas A&M University to obtain a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I put that degree to practice when I accepted a position at Festo, Corporation, a German factory automation company, and focused on helping companies automate their manufacturing and improve their efficiencies. While there I attended the Advance Management Program at Harvard University as well as was exposed to ISO 9000/9001, JIT, Kaizen, Six Sigma and other quality and manufacturing programs that look to continually improve all aspects of a manufacturing business – all programs that trickle down to customer benefits and improvements to their bottom line.

After a successful career at Festo I left to start my own business in the construction industry. The almost 20 years in this field taught me how to manage projects, people, and all the moving parts that can make or brake a project and a company.

It is this experience that gets applied daily to Current Energy Storage so that our customers experience the benefits of working with a company that is continually improving the processes that increase quality while making it more productive and more efficient. One thing is to have the knowledge and experience, and another is knowing how to organize it and apply it to be useful and effective.

I look forward to helping you with your next project so you can experience the industry difference first hand.
