Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant is an Importer and Retailer of fine French and Italian wine. Their guarantee is “Our wine tastes the same in your home as it did where it was bottled in Europe”, and “The wine tastes exactly as it did in Europe when it reaches our shores.” They can guarantee this because their wines are transported from the growers’ cellars to the Kermit Lynch warehouse in Berkely, California exclusively in refrigerated trucks and containers. It is essential the wine continue to be refrigerated in their warehouse until they ship product to their valued customers across the U.S. In the past, Kermit Lynch has experienced intermittent power outages which could spoil there inventory due to a lack of refrigeration.

Current Energy Storage was selected to provide the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) which plays a vital part in Kermit Lynch’s process of continued refrigeration of their warehouse during times of power outages or grid failures.

The BESS serves the dual purpose of providing microgrid backup during grid outages and reducing the electrical bill during times of high utility rates. Based on the local utility’s TOU rate schedule, the battery charges from the solar system during daylight hours and discharges the battery during the late afternoon/evening hours when the utility rates are at their highest.

Current Energy’s BESS keeps the worry out of losing valuable wine inventory, even during long term power outages.
