Corvallis ISD Partners with the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition
In May 2018, Corvallis voters approved a $199.9 Capital Construction Bond, enabling the Corvallis School District to upgrade its aging infrastructure and provide more innovative and Equitable opportunities for students. The CSD Bond program included projects centered around sustainability and designed to upgrade and modernize their school buildings to provide a healthy and sustainable learning environment for students.
The bond program helped fund construction at Lincoln Elementary. Oregon statute requires an investment of 1.5% of the total project cost (approximately $1.6 million) in renewable energy projects. A partnership with the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition helped bolster this investment by providing additional solar-powered projects.
“The primary goal of our bond program is to support future generations. Reducing our carbon footprint is one way that we are accomplishing that,” said Superintendent Ryan Noss. “Our partnership with the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition and the Oregon Clean Power Cooperative will provide additional resources to our District and will benefit our students and community in many ways. We will continue to take action in the area of sustainability and we are grateful for the leadership and commitment of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition.”
Current Energy Storage Systems, like the Corvallis ISD, believes that we all have a responsibility to be agents in the contribution to a more sustainable and energy resilient future.
